Confirmation at First Lutheran is a life changing combination learning, experiencing, and serving. Check out the main components of the program below.

Overall Purpose

The purpose of Confirmation and Student Ministries at First Lutheran Church is : Guiding students to be passionate disciples of Jesus Christ.

What is Confirmation?

When a child is baptized the parents and sponsors take responsibility for this child’s faith by making promises to faithfully:

Bring them to the services of God’s house
Teach them the Lord’s Prayer, the Creed, and the Ten Commandments
Place in their hands the Holy Scriptures
Provide for their Christian Faith, that, living in the covenant of their Baptism and in communion with the Church, they may lead godly lives until the day of Jesus Christ.

Confirmation is an exciting student ministry program where the church partners with the parents and sponsors of baptized students to continue the journey of faith started at Baptism. At the end of the Confirmation ministry experience students have a celebration service called the “Affirmation of Baptism.” At this service students make a public profession of their faith and declare their intentions to live this faith out.

Our Goal: Partnership to create passionate disciples of Jesus

The church, parents, and sponsors partner in instruction and development of discipleship through the three core experiences of First Lutheran Church

1. Connect-Experiencing connections and friendships with peers and adults in a caring, supportive, safe, Christian environment

2. Worship-Bowing hearts and lives to God

3. Ministry-Serving others with the love of Jesus

Our Method of Disciple-making:

Confirmation at First Lutheran is a three year program that begins in the fall of 7th grade and ends with the Celebration of Confirmation in the fall of 10th grade. Students experience and learn how to be a disciple of Jesus through First Lutheran’s core process of disciple making as follows:

1. Connect-Learn and grow in a small group on Wednesday nights

2. Worship-Regularly come and worship God on Sunday mornings

3. Serve-Volunteer to serve at the church and/or community

Confirmation Events

School is out and it’s time to put some excitement into summer! Aftershock is a week of day camp for students to hang out and have fun together. Aftershock revolves around a Biblical theme and incorporates service projects along with fun outings. This year Aftershock will be helping out with VBS in the mornings as a service project. Some other things to look forward to are Feed My Starving Children, Cascade Bay and Nickelodeon Universe. Don’t miss this great opportunity to grow in faith and have a blast with all of your friends.

Afterschock Details:

June 21-25, 8:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m
Minimum of 12 students and maximum of 40 students.
Cost: $100-(Camp fee and transportation, lunch is not included)
Deposit: $25 (non-refundable) Spots are limited. Get your deposit in ASAP!
Final Payment: Sunday, June 6 at 1:00 p.m.-$75

Summer Festival is a week long faith filled retreat that strives to be the best week of your teenager’s year. The camp is packed to the brim with fun games and events, a rocking band, an opportunity to build relationships with the campers from your group and a chance to have honest conversations about things that really matter in life, including a relationship with God. Summer Festival is put on by Youth Forum, a para-church organization striving to equip and empower local churches and communities in their ministry to young people. Dates: Monday, July 19 at 12:00 p.m. to Friday, July 23 at 12:30 p.m.
Cost: $345 (includes transportation fee)
Deposit: By Sunday May 30, $100 (non-refundable)
Final Payment:Sunday, June 20 at 1:00 p.m.– $245 (non-refundable)
Optional Fundraiser-FLC Community Garage Sale: Saturday June 19 students will sell donated items and/or items brought by the students. At the end the garage sale the total earned will be split equally between the students that participated in the garage sale. Students that want to partake in this fundraiser should drop off items they want to sell on Friday June 18 already priced. The actual garage sale is on Saturday June 19 from 6:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Please sign up ahead of time on your registration form if you would like to participate.
