“As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother's womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.” (Ecclesiastes 11:5)

In Memory: Pastor Steve Mahan Print E-mail

Loving Husband, Dad, Pastor and Friend: Pastor Mahan, age 58, died on March 10, 2008, surrounded by family and friends, after a 15-month battle with Creutzfeldt - Jakob Disease (CJD).

Steve is survived by: wife, Robin; sons, Joshua and Gabriel; parents Frank and Kathy Mahan; siblings, Frank Jr., Tim, John, Jim, Paul, Jeff, Sandy, Sherri , and many nieces and nephews. Steve earned a Masters Degree from the University of Dallas and a Masters of Divinity from Luther Seminary in St. Paul. Prior to entering the seminary, he was a Lieutenant in the Fire Department at San Marcos, Texas.

Pastor Mahan was a beloved pastor and served with joy at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in St. Paul and First Lutheran Church in White Bear Lake, MN. He was a visionary leader whose heart for people and proclaiming the Gospel was evident in every aspect of his ministry. Pastor Mahan's life mission was that all would know the Savior, lives would be changed, and that church would be an oasis of the Kingdom. His pride and joy and greatest legacy was the creation of Magnuson Christian School in 2004.

If there was only one word to describe Steve, it would be passionate. He was passionately in love with his wife Robin and burst at the seams of his heart with love and pride for both his sons Joshua and Gabriel. He was passionate about his Lord and Savior, Golden Retrievers, building basketball courts, and Texas - otherwise known as "God's Country."

The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the Health East hospice team; many volunteers and relatives who faithfully visited Steve and made it possible for him to be at home; and the love, prayers, and support of both congregations.
