We gather for worship services every Sunday, but worship is way more than a 60 minute service. Worship is love on its knees. Worship is the active admission that there is a God, and we’re not it. Worship is the humble ecstasy that comes from turning ourselves over to the grace and majesty of God.
That means we'll worship in lots of different ways. Our worship gatherings come in both traditional and contemporary forms, and those gatherings a central part of our worship. But hopefully we worship God a lot more often than that. As Christians we worship when we live justly, when we show mercy, when we love our neighbors, when we honor our families, when we care for God's creation. Some of the Biblical prophets criticized God’s people for their acts of worship when their lifestyles didn’t honor God.
When you come to a worship service at First Lutheran, we hope you'll feel free to worship God
as His Spirit moves you. For you that may mean quietly and with cultured formality. We know that still waters run deep. Or it might mean worshiping with hands held high in total abandon. Sometimes the rapids will run fast. The posture of your body means less than the posture of your Spirit.
More than anything else we hope that the good news of Jesus will give you hope and move you to a life of gratitude and worship toward the God who made you.
